An Ancestry Visa allows people of a British Overseas Territory to come to the UK to live, work and study if they have a grandparent who was born in the UK.

To get an Ancestry Visa, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria, including having an ancestry relationship to a grandparent who was born in the UK and being able to support themselves without claiming public funds. The visa is also subject to a points-based system.

The visa is valid for five years and is renewable. If the holder of an Ancestry Visa plans to stay in the UK for more than five years, they can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
